Jo Clark

Jo trained as an accountant and started her career by working for organisations including the London Stock Exchange and BT in finance roles. During 1996 - 1997 she took a leave of absence to participate with 13 other crew members in the BT Global Challenge Round the World Yacht Race.  The crew raced for nine and a half months and were finally placed second overall.

Fascinated by the experience of excellent team work in extreme conditions Jo was delighted to accept an invitation to join the Centre for High Performance Development (now part of IBM) in the autumn of 1997.

While at CHPD Jo led a team of consultants to design and deliver leadership and team development interventions for organisations including DAS and CSFB.

For the last ten years Jo has been Assistant Head of HR for Newcastle University.  Leading a team of 18 professionals, Jo was responsible for delivering the people development service, as part of the Human Resources directorate, to 5,000 university staff worldwide. In addition, Jo delivered consultancy services to HE institutions in Nigeria, Kazakhstan and Angola. During this time, projects included the delivery of a University wide competency framework now integrated into HR recruitment, selection, development and annual review processes globally and leading the roll out of University wide national standard accreditation scheme now being used as a model for the sector.

Jo has the British Psychological Society Level A and B, is accredited in behavioural observation through CHPD and is a Chartered Accountant.
